YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
Terms & Conditions
These terms govern your use of Guarded. Please read the password-loss and backup provisions carefully before storing credentials.
1. Agreement and eligibility
Guarded is provided by Earnest Ventures Pty Ltd (“we”, “us” or “our”). By creating an account or using Guarded, you agree to these terms and our Privacy Policy. You must be at least 16 and legally able to enter this agreement.
2. Accounts and security
You are responsible for accurate account information, securing your account password and devices, choosing a strong and unique master password, and all activity through your account. Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorised account access.
3. Zero-knowledge limitations and recovery
Vault data is encrypted in your browser before storage. We do not receive your master password and ordinarily cannot read vault plaintext. This architecture means we cannot reset a forgotten master password, recreate lost keys, inspect encrypted records for accuracy, or restore plaintext where required cryptographic material is unavailable.
4. Your backups and credential accuracy
You are solely responsible for maintaining current, independently stored backups or exports and testing that they can be restored. You must verify saved passwords, one-time-code seeds, URLs, notes, passkey references, and recovery details. Guarded is not a substitute for account recovery methods offered by third-party services.
5. Acceptable use
You must not use Guarded unlawfully; interfere with or probe the service without authorisation; distribute malware; access another person’s account; abuse sharing features; or store or transmit content that infringes rights or causes harm. We may restrict or suspend access to protect users, infrastructure, or legal compliance.
6. Security preview and availability
Guarded is currently a security preview. Features may change, contain defects, or be unavailable. You should not rely on it as the sole copy of production credentials until it has completed appropriate independent security review. We may maintain, modify, discontinue, or impose reasonable limits on the service.
7. Intellectual property
We and our licensors retain rights in Guarded’s software, branding, documentation, and service design. These terms do not transfer ownership. Rights in open-source components remain governed by their respective licences. You retain rights in your encrypted content.
8. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Guarded is provided “as is” and “as available”, without guarantees that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure against every threat, or suitable for a particular purpose. You assume the risks inherent in encryption software, browser environments, self-hosting, third-party extensions, and credential storage.
9. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Earnest Ventures Pty Ltd is not liable for forgotten or lost passwords; lost, corrupted, or inaccessible encryption keys or recovery material; inaccessible vaults; incorrect credentials; failed backups; data loss; unauthorised access; service interruption; or indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or economic loss arising from Guarded.
Where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, our liability is limited, at our option and where permitted, to resupplying the affected services or paying the reasonable cost of having them supplied again. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any guarantee, right, or remedy that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable law.
10. Suspension and termination
You may stop using Guarded at any time. Before account closure, export any data you need. We may suspend or terminate access for material breach, security risk, unlawful conduct, or where continued operation is impracticable. Data handling after termination is described in our Privacy Policy.
11. Changes
We may update these terms to reflect product, security, legal, or operational changes. Material changes will take effect after reasonable notice where required. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
12. Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia. Courts with jurisdiction in Queensland have non-exclusive jurisdiction, subject to any rights you have under mandatory law. Contact us at privacy@guarded.pw.
